Monthly Meeting Monday July 10, 2023 6 pm
Monday, July 10, is our next meeting. Fred and Candy Isberner will be talking about their most recent eclipse trip. Bob Baer will give us an update on the upcoming star party ( August 5th ). We will also have a guest presenting an opportunity for a viewing at a dark site in southeast Illinois.

This month Thad Heckman will be presenting his article with photographs documenting his first-hand experience with the Astronomers and Astrophysicists at the Palomar Mountain Observatory in Southern California. The narrative was published in September 2020 in the Griffith Observer magazine science writing competition.

More Library Telescopes
Three of us were in St Louis last Saturday modifying telescopes to put in Southern Illinois libraries. AASI members Ru Tanner (on the left) Rachel Young (in front) and Harry Treece (on the right) worked with Don Ficken (second from the left) and his crew from the St Louis astronomy clubs to get telescopes ready for the libraries in Carterville, Anna, and Carbondale Illinois. We already have telescopes in the Carterville and Murphysboro libraries.
